eInfochips, a product engineering services company, has launched a new System on Module (SoM) and related engineering services for the automotive industry. The goal of this new SoM is to build safer vehicles, the company states.
This new generation of safety systems is based on the i.MX 6 series application processors. One example of an application for this device is carbon monoxide monitoring. When connected to the vehicle’s telemetry system, the thermal camera can detect life forms in the car, as well as increase in levels of carbon monoxide. If the gas reaches dangerous levels, alerts are then sent to an emergency list.
The SoM is available for embedded applications such as Internet of Things, home automation, medical devices and industrial control. It is also a product of the eInfochips IdeaLab. This is a space where companies can turn ideas into commercial products.
“We are focusing on transforming Freescale i.mx6 technologies into advanced telemetry and infotainment solutions.” said Parag Mehta, chief marketing and business development officer at eInfochips. “The SoM based on the i.MX 6 series is designed, so that retrofitted and integrated products can get to market faster, and improve safety for automobiles.”
